Progress Report 11-30-08

Posted by Alexander Smith on November 30th, 2008

Hello everyone! I have here some screenshots from a new map called “Circuit”. The name is a temporary name, but the map itself, is largely complete, thanks to a new method of UV mapping I learned. Progress on Infested is good. I expect a multiplayer/singleplayer beta/demo to be released later this month, and in the mean time, I will continue to supply screenshots and things to give you a general idea of what progress is like.

And no, the player is not yet textured. :)

Hello everyone! Tonight I played a real multiplayer match in Infested, and it was a lot of fun! Here are some screenshots of the carnage. :P

Yes, I need more players, this wasn’t a very big match. :)

Hello everyone! I’m sorry to disappoint, but due to time limitations, I was unable to assemble a multiplayer game to show you people. However, I made a HUGE amount of progress on the MP side of Infested, and so here are a few screenshots of an as yet mostly unfinished MP map called Thunderdome. Enjoy the screenshots.

Please check back tomorrow. I might have something fully complete by then.

Progress Report 11-21-08

Hello folks! First, some bad news, we had a long power outage today that went through nearly all of my work time, and as a result, I was unable to finish up the 3 things I needed to do, to get some MP screenshots released.

However, the good news is that I think I can get the necessary work done to get those screenshots out tomorrow! If I do get it all together, I will post them tomorrow evening.

Until then.

Progress Report 11-15-08

Hey people! Lots of progress, and getting close to a demo and more screenshots and renders.

Progress so far is:

  • Finished new MJOLNIR Cyborg “Marine” model
  • Finished new BoB model
  • Almost finished new Multiplayer map
  • Finalized system for a cool new MP mode
  • Completely reworked HUD code
  • Touched up HUD graphics
  • Added sounds to weapons
  • Animated several weapons
  • Changed muzzle flashes on some weapons
  • Finished projectiles, Rocket, Grenade
  • Added new particle effects, smoke .ect
  • Conceptualized Main/Splash/Load screens (Temp images in place now)
  • And more!…

Some screenshots will be coming just as soon as I can get one of my scripters to fix a HUD problem for me. I also need a new AI script. As soon as that is finished, I’ll have screenshots galore! If Brian (dim3 creator) gets the new dim3 beta out soon, I can get some MP screenies as well. Until then…

PS: I know you’re probably wondering why I’m “redoing” the HUD, when I have an apparently working HUD in my screenshots. Well, sorry to say, that’s just images of a concept HUD, not the real thing. The real things looks just like that, only it works. :P

Progress Report 11-7-08

Posted by Alexander Smith on November 7th, 2008

Hello folks. First off, I want to say that my birthday was 11-04, so I am now officially 17 years old. I can still hardly believe that I’ve been working on Marathon: Ragnarok, Marathon: Invasion and Marathon: Infested since I was about 13. Yes my friends, those are the previous names of Marathon: Infested. Don’t laugh…

Now to the news. I wanted to get some multiplayer screenshots of from the map Thunderdome (which I’m sure all Marathon fans know), but networking functions are currently unstable, and thus, I couldn’t get that setup. Progress on the demo is fantastic, and I actually have real gameplay working almost perfectly now. Every day I write little check marks next to parts of the demo/full game I need to complete. Just this morning I got the actual basics of the REAL working HUD in-game, and replaced all necessary code in the player script. Next update I should have some kind of multiplayer screenshots to show, and maybe even some singleplayer ones.

Until then!
