PROGRESS REPORT 11-30-09

Hello folks! Two renders of the Hunter model and a progress report today.
The most important part of the report is the “HUD overhaul”. I’m not sure if this new HUD will turn out well or not, but I will be sure to plenty of opinions on the matter before I make a decision. I will probably have the new HUD done by next week, it’s quite different, so reserve judgment until you hear my reasons. Then you can criticize freely.

Also, due to no little controversy on the matter, I have changed the hand textures to a black glove instead of skin. The thing is, many people in the Marathon community see the player as being no specific race due to the way his skin is an unusual color, and his hands look (to some) like he’s wearing gloves. To me, I see him as being white, not only because of the way he’s shown in-game, but also in Craig Mullins’ art, and in Bungie-made art. But to prevent there being a problem, I gave him black gloves, which looks nice anyway. You’ll see that next week.

But enough of that, pics and the report.

Report:

  • Improved Pfhor model.
  • Finished basic Hunter model.
  • Fully node-mapped Survival Map 1.
  • Tweaked and fixed weapon scripts
  • Started adding unique loading screens per map
  • Improved main screens
  • Cleaned out old scripts, textures, models and other things
  • Changed hand texture to black/Improved hand texture
  • Overhauled HUD graphcs

PROGRESS REPORT 11-22-09

Hello folks!

I don’t know if any of you remember or not, but I had originally intended to NOT include the Hunter or Enforcer in Marathon: Infested. My reasoning was that I would finish the game, and then release a pack later that would have the remaining monsters. I have since decided to not do it that way, and I am now working on the Hunter and Enforcer.

Here are some screenshots of the enforcer model. Yes, the hands are 100% wip. :P

In other news, I’ve been working on gametypes, animations, SFX, and particles. I really want to make a video of Infested gameplay, so I’ll be working on getting that together as soon as the AI is steady enough.

PROGRESS REPORT 11-08-09

Hello folks! Not a whole heck of a lot to talk about today. I ran into a problematic bug while trying to implement a flame death animation/effect for the pfhor fighter. So no screenies of that I’m afraid.
This week I basically fixed bugs, polished the Alien Weapon a bit, improved some FX, ect.
Marathon Infested gets more stable each week, and I really see an end in sight finally. I’m looking forward to recording some vids of gameplay down the road.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay, but I got kind of lazy, and didn’t meet my deadlines the way I had intended. Today I bring you 7 cool screenshots from Infested. I hope you like them.

Dangit. I just remembered that I didn’t add the awesome pfhor burning effect that the alien weapon needs. :( Blast it, I’ll do that this upcoming weekend. Sorry guys.

Progress Report:

  • Improved AI.
  • Added proper Pfhor Fighter projectile.
  • Added WIH Alienweapon.
  • Added Alienweapon pickup version.
  • Added Alienweapon projectile.
  • Added Alienweapon sounds.
  • Added Pfhor Fighter Ranged Major (Blue).
  • Fixed some projectile and lighting bugs.
  • Reworked some lighting on current test survival map.
