Hello everyone! Today I bring you a screenshot of the brand new HUD!

As you can see, I have decided to go back to the traditional Marathon Infinity type HUD. There are a lot of advantages to having it this way. First, since the HUD is bigger, I can add things like separate ammunition and network score counters in the middle, instead of just using the built in network score counter. Since the HUD is kind of tall, it also enables me to place my weapons higher, which makes them look more centered, and better. Take a look!

If you have any suggestions for how to improve it, please let me know. :)

Not much time to write this, but I got an awesome inspiration for the new HUD, and it’s really shaping up! I can’t say much about it, but suffice to say, it’s going back to the roots. No more of this Marathon: Durandal floating parts stuff. This is more like M2 or M3. I’ll show you as soon as I can. I hope you’ll like it.

Hello folks! Two renders of the Hunter model and a progress report today.
The most important part of the report is the “HUD overhaul”. I’m not sure if this new HUD will turn out well or not, but I will be sure to plenty of opinions on the matter before I make a decision. I will probably have the new HUD done by next week, it’s quite different, so reserve judgment until you hear my reasons. Then you can criticize freely.

Also, due to no little controversy on the matter, I have changed the hand textures to a black glove instead of skin. The thing is, many people in the Marathon community see the player as being no specific race due to the way his skin is an unusual color, and his hands look (to some) like he’s wearing gloves. To me, I see him as being white, not only because of the way he’s shown in-game, but also in Craig Mullins’ art, and in Bungie-made art. But to prevent there being a problem, I gave him black gloves, which looks nice anyway. You’ll see that next week.

But enough of that, pics and the report.

  • Improved Pfhor model.
  • Finished basic Hunter model.
  • Fully node-mapped Survival Map 1.
  • Tweaked and fixed weapon scripts
  • Started adding unique loading screens per map
  • Improved main screens
  • Cleaned out old scripts, textures, models and other things
  • Changed hand texture to black/Improved hand texture
  • Overhauled HUD graphcs

Cya next week!

Hello folks!

I don’t know if any of you remember or not, but I had originally intended to NOT include the Hunter or Enforcer in Marathon: Infested. My reasoning was that I would finish the game, and then release a pack later that would have the remaining monsters. I have since decided to not do it that way, and I am now working on the Hunter and Enforcer.

Here are some screenshots of the enforcer model. Yes, the hands are 100% wip. :P

In other news, I’ve been working on gametypes, animations, SFX, and particles. I really want to make a video of Infested gameplay, so I’ll be working on getting that together as soon as the AI is steady enough.

Until next time….

Hello folks! Not a whole heck of a lot to talk about today. I ran into a problematic bug while trying to implement a flame death animation/effect for the pfhor fighter. So no screenies of that I’m afraid.
This week I basically fixed bugs, polished the Alien Weapon a bit, improved some FX, ect.
Marathon Infested gets more stable each week, and I really see an end in sight finally. I’m looking forward to recording some vids of gameplay down the road.

See you next week.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay, but I got kind of lazy, and didn’t meet my deadlines the way I had intended. Today I bring you 7 cool screenshots from Infested. I hope you like them.

Dangit. I just remembered that I didn’t add the awesome pfhor burning effect that the alien weapon needs. :( Blast it, I’ll do that this upcoming weekend. Sorry guys.

  • Added proper Pfhor Fighter projectile.
  • Added WIH Alienweapon.
  • Added Alienweapon pickup version.
  • Added Alienweapon projectile.
  • Added Alienweapon sounds.
  • Added Pfhor Fighter Ranged Major (Blue).
  • Fixed some projectile and lighting bugs.

Okay, I can’t get the 3rd finished, so here are two:

Hey everyone! Just a few things to report today:

Right now, the AI is really improving. I can hide in an area, and they will find me. Hopefully, they will eventually be surrounding me as well!

I’ve added about 6 new textures to the lava set, and they really help flesh out the set. A guy from the Pfhorums is going to make some new ones as well.

I’ve made a few changes to the hand model, and improved the textures. I also changed the texture to have a glove over the hand. Don’t ask why please. If you want to know, go to the Pfhorums, and go to Projects>>Marathon: Infested thread.

Progress Report 8-30-09

Hello folks! I’m knee deep in college, but I have some cool pics of the latest weapon in Infested.

Alien Weapon!

Okay, to be perfectly honest, my intention was to finish the Enforcer, and post some screenshots of that. But I’m kind of behind on my schedule, and I have AI to test, so that didn’t really work out. I hope these pics temporarily satisfy your thirst.

Oh, and the internet connection problem is kinda sorta fixed. My brand new router is giving me pains. And I’m having to deal with this worthless ZyXEL modem/router. Sometimes I hate technology (haha).

See you next week.

No update today folks. My DSL connection has been very spotty the past few days, and I spent a lot of Sunday trying to fix it, rather than work on Infested. I apologize for the lack of an update. Hopefully my connection will remain steady from now on, so I’ll be able to post my stuff. I’m trying to catch up on lost work now, and I’ll try and get a good update out next week.
